Bubble London SS15: The Top Picks of A Very Large Child With a Penchant for Print and Shiny Things.

This weekend I went to Bubble London for a meeting with Emma Smith, a fantastic stylist and owner of blog Little Style Fix. After a coffee and catch up we went off on a wander. I am always on the look out for new designers to pull from for editorial pieces, and so Bubble was a real burst of inspiration! Forgive the cheesy pun. Here I have popped together a list of my absolute favourite pieces from the show.

Milk & Biscuits

There were a lot of gorgeous prints on display, ranging from neon tribal work to actual dalmatians! This piece stood out a mile! This gorgeous coat by Milk and Biscuits is decorated with a beautiful Lido print by Bristol based illustrator Naomi Wilkinson. I am a real sucker for a unique print, and the swimmers and sunbathers sold this one to me instantly! The piece is also available as a gorgeous skirt, and trousers too. The real question is, could I fit into an age 10….

Joyfolie

I am also particularly partial to shiny things. Like these stunning little shoes. Joyfolie presented these silver fringed loafers amongst a selection of more floral designs, and they really stood out to me. After a visit to their web page I have discovered they have worked alongside one of my favourite brands, Anthropologie, and also provide adults’ sizes. Hurrah!

Sarah Elwick

I warned you there would be a lot of prints…and there are a lot more to come! Sarah Elwick is a Brighton based textile designer. This gorgeous neon, puzzle inspired baby blanket is one of her most popular pieces, and it is easy to see why. It is so great to see a baby blanket a little different from the norm, straying from the safe world of neutrals and pastels.

Bleu Comme Gris

This dress from Bleu Comme Gris teams a gorgeous neon flecked, tribal print with a beautiful blue, chambray shirt. An easy, pull on outfit, no fuss needed! Team this piece with those Joyfolie silver loafers and you have instant Parisian chic.

SKK Light Hub

Now for something a little different - novelty lighting! SKK light hub’s stall was full of glowing neon animals, fire breathing dinosaurs, and minimalistic, origami inspired creations. As I am currently living in rented accommodation, pets aren’t really an option for me, despite yearning for a french bull dog and daschund double act. Maybe a glowing, neon plastic one will suffice?

Rachel Riley

After the royal seal of approval from Prince George, Rachel Riley has been on everyone’s radar. I have been a fan of their wonderful, vintage inspired pieces for a while, picking up a stunning shell fish bow tie for my Stanley and Olivia editorial last year. This lobster print takes things to a whole new level for me. There is just something about lobsters. I think it was born from Lilo and stitch for me…

“We want something sturdy”

“Like a lobster!”

Ponytail

Ponytail prides itself on wanting to make the lives of mother’s easier, through a wonderful selection of illustrated toy bags, changing mats, hooded towels and more. These gorgeous prints are by Spanish illustrator Willy Olero, who, I have just discovered, also creates some rather fantastic clocks. You don’t need a baby to appreciate this design! I am currently on the hunt for a unique back pack to replace the old leather one I have worn day in, day out, for three years. I think I might be in luck.

Bubble was such a fun day out, and I have found some really stunning designers that I hope to collaborate with in the near future. I will finish on the note that it is a good job that these pieces are all SS15 samples. If not, my purse stood a fair chance at becoming a great deal lighter in a record amount of time.

GOING PART TIME

The past six months have been incredibly exciting and fast paced for me!

Since getting a job as a photographer at Boggio Studios, I have pretty much been rushed off my feet learning posing tips, lighting set ups, and countless newborn and baby photography techniques. In addition to this, after four months of employment, I was offered the role of Art Director of commercial and editorial campaigns. As you can imagine, it has been a wonderful 6 months.

Alongside all of this, my freelancing has been taking off too! I have shot look-books for a range of gorgeous clothing brands, which has introduced me to lovely new models, creative teams, and some breath taking locations. Plus, I was lucky enough to receive my first ever front cover with Luna Magazine!

This wonderful progression in my freelancing has resulted in the need for me to reduce my hours at the studio, and I have now become a part time employee. I am so, so excited to have more time to dedicate to my own business!

As a result of this, and in the name of progression, I have created this blog. I’ve set myself a goal to post 1 quality piece a week, should that be behind the scenes work, tips and tricks on how to photograph your kids, or even fun DIY prop makes I have come across. So watch this space! And make sure I stick to it!!
